February 21, 2007:
My apologies to all those hockey fans around the world (and grandparents too) who have followed the Rats all season long through the website - I have let you down with news about the playoffs. The playoff format was first team to 4 points (tie games give each team 1 point). We have now played 3 playoff games. The team was thumped 7-2 in the first game by a Cumberland Red team that was ready to go. However the Rats bounced back in game 2 on home ice with a 2-2 tie. Game 3 was played tonight in Navan and the Rats came out hard and showed strong determination, tying the series with a 2-0 win. We are now set for the final game of the series back in Metcalfe tomorrow night at 7:30pm. You won't want to miss it!! Hockey at its exciting best!!

Another tournament in the books - unfortunately, our 1-1-1 record was not enough to move into the semi-finals. Bouncing back with a strong effort in the third game was a good demonstration of the character of our players - many of whom were up at 5am today. We have our last league game today which will be a good tune-up for the playoffs which will start later this week (~ Feb 14th). The tournament stats have been updated (except for the last game).

Big Road Trip to Scotia Bank Place to see the Sens Skills Competition today. Please be at the Metcalfe Arena at 11:00am sharp to catch the bus. The bus will return in time for our practice this afternoon at 5pm. The playoffs are almost set - we should start around Feb. 14th and are opponent is likely to be Cumberland Red. First team to 4 points wins the series. We have the times for teh Arnprior tournament - they are 8am, 1pm, and 6 pm on Feb. 10th with semis and finals on the 11th. Finally, we will try and set up another exhibition game with the Cumberland-Gloucester Stars team for a chance at redemption.
